Juni 1958 während seines Heimaturlaubs vom Militärdienst in Nashville auf. Die Besetzung enthielt unter anderem Hank Garland und Chet Atkins an den Gitarren sowie die Jordanaires als Background Chor.

Ursprünglich im November 1959 auf dem Album “Elvis’ Gold Records, Vol. 2” veröffentlicht, wurde das Stück zum internationalen Hit: In den USA erreichte es Platz 2 der Billboard-Hot-100-Charts, in Großbritannien Platz 1. Stilistisch bewegt sich Presleys Version zwischen Country und Rhythm-&-Blues mit deutlichem Pop-Schlag, was seinen typischen Genre-Mix der späten 50er Jahre zeigt. Der Text reflektiert Reue über Liebe und die Erkenntnis „…now and then there’s a fool such as I“.
